Privacy Policy — Booboot

Booboot ("we", "us", "our") operates the Booboot mobile application (the "App"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our App and the choices you have associated with that data.

1. Information We Collect

a. Account Information

When you register, we collect your phone number to verify your identity via one-time password (OTP). We do not store passwords.

b. Location Data

If you use Booboot as a Rider, we collect your real-time GPS location while the app is open and a delivery job is active. This is used to show your position to Requesters tracking their delivery and to match you with nearby jobs.

If you use Booboot as a Requester, we collect your pickup and drop-off location to facilitate delivery requests.

We do not collect location data in the background when the app is closed.

c. Device Information

We collect basic device information such as device type and operating system version for troubleshooting and performance monitoring.

d. Push Notification Token

If you grant permission, we collect your push notification token to send you real-time updates about delivery jobs, chat messages, and app activity. You can withdraw this permission at any time from your phone's Settings.

e. Messages

In-app chat messages between Riders and Requesters are stored on our servers to enable real-time communication during active deliveries.

f. Payment Information

Subscription payments are processed through Billplz, a licensed Malaysian payment gateway. We do not store your card or bank details — all payment data is handled directly by Billplz under their own privacy policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

To verify your identity and maintain your account
To match Riders with nearby delivery requests
To enable real-time delivery tracking
To facilitate communication between Riders and Requesters
To process subscription payments
To send push notifications relevant to your activity
To improve the App and resolve technical issues

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these circumstances:

Between users: A Requester's pickup and drop-off location is shared with the assigned Rider, and the Rider's real-time location is shared with the Requester during active delivery.
Service providers: We use Supabase (database hosting) and Billplz (payments). These providers process data on our behalf under their own data protection policies.
Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by Malaysian law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

4. Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active.
Delivery history and chat messages are retained for 12 months for dispute resolution purposes.
You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the email below.

5. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and row-level security on our database. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

6. Children's Privacy

Booboot is not directed to anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

7. Your Rights

Under Malaysian law and our own policy, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and data
Withdraw consent for push notifications at any time

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes via a push notification or in-app notice. The date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision.
